Wildlife Expeditions on Mull

Our daily Wildlife expeditions have blazed the trail in wildlife watching for over twenty years here and they are a must for any wildlife enthusiast visiting Scotland at any time of year.

The expeditions are led by one of Scotland's top wildlife guides, David Woodhouse. In fact David has been conducting Expeditions longer than any other wildlife guide in Britain.

The Island of Mull is one of the most diverse eco destinations in the world and your trip is designed to maximise your chances of seeing golden eagles, otters, white tailed sea eagles, porpoise, hen harriers and a whole host of fascinating Hebridean wildlife. You will not only see our wonderful creatures in their spectacular natural habitats but you will also learn how to look and where to look for them. We pass on our knowledge about the significance of weather patterns, tides and wind direction etc when visiting the Hebrides. You will also learn about other sites around Scotland where you can see more of Scotland's wild and wonderful creatures.

There are no set routes for the expeditions as the weather and current wildlife hotspots dictate where we go on the day. We provide binoculars, maps and field guides, however we would strongly recommend that you bring your own binoculars if possible as familiarity with ones own gear can help enormously. We have a top of the range Swarovski telescope to enhance your wildlife sighting's.

As always we can assure our customers both old and new of one of the best days out in Scotland.  You are very welcome to contact us for more details regarding clothing to wear and dietary requirements etc.

Your guide David Woodhouse has lived on Mull for over twenty years. He moved here with his wife Joy after living and working in North Wales as a graphic designer. Moving to Mull fuelled David’s lifetime interest in the natural environment and he now spearheads many eco tourism and environment initiatives that are happening throughout Scotland.  He is a fervent supporter of national parks and eco tourism as a way forward for rural communities that live alongside our spectacular heritage. He is passionate about the Island of Mull and its welfare.

Bed and Breakfast accommodation on Mull

Set in Mull’s National Scenic Area and in one of the most spectacular localities in Scotland, Torr Buan House is the new architecturally designed home of David and Joy Woodhouse.

Designed in an arc, the house takes in panoramic views from sunrise to sunset.

The suite has been designed to be as private as possible and the accommodation also benefits from private parking and it has its own entrance into the double bedded room which has steps down to a sitting area with TV, sliding doors to the conservatory and decked area with hammock and sun lounges and of course spectacular sea and island views.  There is an ensuite wet shower room, central heating, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryer etc. The entire house is cosy and warm even in the depths of winter because of the high spec sheep’s wool insulation.  See our Winter Wildlife Package for winter accommodation and wildlife expeditions.

Your stay at Torr Buan House is on a Dinner Bed and Breakfast basis and picnic lunches can also be provided.  We use Island produce as much as possible and this may include local lamb, beef, sea food, home grown vegetables and free range eggs etc. Joy is an excellent cook and previously owned Ulva House Hotel in Tobermory where guests would return year after year to enjoy her superb food.  Click here for pictures of our Bed and Breakfast accommodation.
